Red Oak wood is straight grained with a coarse texture and prominent rays. Red Oak has Light reddish tan heartwood , with almost white sapwood. Red Oak is a very hard and durable hardwood with great wear resistance. Red Oak is commonly used for cabinets, furniture, millwork, musical instruments, plywood, flooring, turnery, boxes, caskets, pallets, heavy construction, and many other applications. Oak accepts stain very well, from light to dark. Due to its rather coarse grain patterns Red Oak is not recommended for painting as this coarse grain will show under some painted finishes. Of course if this is the look you desire for your painted finishes then Red Oak may be an excellent choice. Shown here is our standard raised panel cabinet door. All of our raised panel doors are 5 piece doors. Also sometimes called frame and panel doors. Meaning that the panel is held in place by the door frame.
